BIO |
Nick Coggiola has been playing music since before he could walk, but then again - that’s what happens when you’re raised by two music teachers. He’s grown a bit since then, and has become an accomplished multiinstrumentalist as well.
Nick has been playing trumpet since age 7, and has performed live in a wide array of styles and genres. He studied jazz trumpet under Jeff Stockham (and his dad, Dr. John Coggiola), and jazz guitar under Rick Balestra while minoring in Jazz Studies at Syracuse University. He played trumpet around Syracuse both on- and off-campus, doing everything from classical church gigs and jazz formals, to house parties and shows at area venues. He is versed as a reader, writer, and has experience writing and arranging backing horn lines for various artists as well.

Currently playing ST (starting trumpet) for the Los Angeles Football Club, Nick was chosen to play the team's new anthem, "Do It For LA" (by DJ Flict, Kid Ink and B-Real), on-field live, right before every home game kickoff starting in 2022. This has included at major sold-out internationally televised games, such as the MLS Cup Final, the Campeones Cup Final, the MLS Cup Playoffs, and vs. Lionel Messi + Inter Miami.
On trumpet, he has also often been used as a supporting player, utilizing his stylistic ability to play everything from wandering melodic indie rock lines to throwback hip-hop/funk/jazz improv riffs. He strongly believes in creating music that fits the song and the vibe, and is the rare horn player who understands the art and skill needed to create great, simple, catchy lines to support vocalists in modern genres. The best compliment he has received so far was that one of his original lines reminded someone of Cake.
He has also been playing electric bass since 2018, and what started out as a fun challenge eventually became a performance vessel he never saw coming. After gigging around town with an early version of Forestline, he enrolled at Musicians Institute for bass studies. While at MI, he studied bass under Justin Apergis, Steve Hong, Dave Keif, George Lopez, Jay Simper, Alexis Sklarevski, and Maurice Verloop. Ultimately it turned into longer time with the program thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic, and all that extra time to practice gave Nick the time to hone his skills on bass (and on keys, synths, more trumpet, production techniques, recording techniques, using Ableton and Logic, and playing live) to help boost his music career.
From 2022-2023 he has played around LA as LAFC's Anthem Trumpeter,  as a bassist with Forestline, as around the Southwestern US a live and studio performer for 15+ artists across multiple genres. He is actively open to touring, gigging and studio opportunities.
